Election Commission: Following the Supreme Court's order, the Election Commission has published the list of 65 lakh voters who were deleted from the electoral roll of Bihar. Last weekend, the Supreme Court gave two important directions to the Election Commission of India on a petition challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar. These two directions include publishing the list of names deleted with reasons and accepting Aadhaar for claims. Now, the Election Commission has published the list of voters whose names were deleted from the SIR draft electoral roll on the official website https://www.eci.gov.in/. So that all voters can easily verify their information.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had given the Election Commission an ultimatum till August 19 for this task. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymala Bagchi said, ‘The Election Commission should publish the information about the names removed from the voter list. So that if there is any mistake, it is known and there is an opportunity to correct it.’ It is noteworthy that now the next hearing on this issue will be held on August 23.

More than 7.24 crore voters out of a total of 7.89 crore have submitted forms in Bihar

The Election Commission said that under the SIR process conducted in Bihar from June 24 to July 25, 10,570 forms have been received so far by individual voters, after which some important conclusions were issued. According to the Election Commission, the SIR process till June 24 has revealed that there were a total of 7.89 crore voters in Bihar, out of which more than 7.24 crore voters have submitted their forms, while 22 lakh voters have died, 36 lakh voters have permanently moved away, while the names of seven lakh voters have been registered in multiple areas.
