The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry said in a statement after the meeting, "Long-pending historical issues such as formal apology for the 1971 genocide committed by Pakistan, division of assets, transfer of foreign aid given to the victims of the 1970 cyclone and repatriation of stranded Pakistanis need to be resolved soon. Only through the resolution of these issues can the foundation of strong relations between the two countries be laid."

Pakistan Foreign Minister's visit to Bangladesh

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh from August 23 to 24. The visit was at the invitation of Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Advisor. During this visit, Dar also met Bangladesh's Principal Advisor Muhammad Yunus. During this visit, the two countries signed bilateral agreements and five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The signing ceremony was held in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon, with Bangladesh Foreign Advisor Mohammad Towhid Hossain and Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar present.
