India Space Mission 2040: Opposition members raised slogans and created a ruckus in Parliament today over the issue of Voter List Revision (SIR) in Bihar, while amidst this ruckus, the issue of Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubanshu Shukla's trip to the International Space Station was discussed. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh has made an important announcement. He said, 'In 2040, an Indian astronaut will land on the surface of the moon.'

Jitendra Singh targets the opposition

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also said in Parliament, 'Today the entire country is celebrating the success of Shubanshu Shukla's space mission, while the opposition is still creating ruckus and is not ready to discuss in the House. How can the opposition be upset with an astronaut?’

Opposition uproar in the House

The opposition members created a huge uproar and slogans in the House on the SIR issue, due to which the proceedings of the House were adjourned twice. After the proceedings began at 2 pm, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla initiated a discussion on the topic ‘India’s first astronaut on the International Space Station – Important role of space programme for a developed India by 2047’. During this, the opposition was also creating a huge uproar. Amidst this uproar, Jitendra Singh initiated a discussion on the issue of Shubhaanshu Shukla’s space journey and said, ‘In 2040, an Indian astronaut will land on the surface of the moon.’
