Peter Navarro: Trade talks are going to be held for the first time after the tension caused by tariffs between the US and India. Even before these talks, US President Donald Trump's trade advisor Peter Navarro has made a statement that 'India is coming to the table'. Some officials of the Trump government are coming to New Delhi tonight. They will hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss several issues including a trade agreement with India.
Trump has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India for buying crude from Russia, in addition to penalties. Due to this tough stance of the US, the country's exports to the US fell to a nine-month low in August. The ongoing trade talks between the two countries were also stalled due to Trump's tariffs.

Both countries want to conclude trade talks quickly: Commerce Ministry

Commercial Ministry Chief Negotiator and Special Secretary Rajesh Agarwal gave information about this meeting. He said that the US and India will conclude trade talks quickly. US Trade Representative for South Asia Brendan Lynch is scheduled to visit New Delhi for this discussion.

India was called the Maharaja of Tariffs

Navarro had earlier made an anti-India statement a week ago that India must agree to trade talks with the US in any way. Otherwise, it will prove to be detrimental to Delhi. The Indian government is angry with us. But they must talk about the issue of trade talks. Navarro further said, 'India charges the highest tariffs from America than any other major country in the world. We have to deal with it. Before Russia attacked Ukraine, India never bought crude from Moscow and then they got into this system of profiteering, Russian refineries are profiteering in India. While American taxpayers pay more money to India in tariffs.’
