Israel Lebanon Buffer Zone: The Israeli army has released a new map to create a 'buffer zone' in southern Lebanon, which extends for several kilometers inside the Lebanese border. This map shows a long strip from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hermon near the Syrian border. Israeli PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Kotz have made it clear that despite the temporary ceasefire in place, Israeli troops will not withdraw from the area. The Defense Minister has further warned that houses and buildings in the area will be demolished and anyone found to be affiliated with Hezbollah will be shot.

A big plan to protect northern Israel

According to the Israeli army, five divisions and the navy are currently working to prepare a 'forward defense line' in the Lebanese area. The main purpose of this strategy is to prevent direct threats to the residents of northern Israel. This buffer zone includes important cities such as Bint Jabil, Aita al-Shaab and Khayyam, which will now be under direct Israeli military control. However, Lebanon and Syria have not approved this move.

Violence continues in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire

Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, violence has not stopped in southern Lebanon. On Sunday, the Israeli army intensified military operations in several areas, in which houses were blown up with explosions and roads were closed. This map has been released at a time when the US announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Given the history and current situation, tensions still persist in this region and there seems little hope for peace.
