Iran US War: Following the rising tension between the US and Iran in the Middle East, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a new and strict travel advisory today (April 23, 2026). The embassy has warned Indian citizens not to travel to Iran and has directed Indians present there to safely exit.

Indian Embassy issues advisory

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has said in the advisory, 'Indian citizens should not travel to Iran by air or land. Traveling to Iran can be dangerous from a security point of view.' Due to regional tensions, restrictions have been imposed on the airspace. Several challenges have arisen regarding the operation of international flights. The advisory says, 'Indian citizens who are currently in Iran should leave the country immediately. Citizens should stay in touch with the embassy.'

Situation worsens after Trump's threat

The Indian embassy has issued this advisory at a time when US President Donald Trump has issued a strict order regarding the increasing security threat in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has ordered the US Navy to immediately destroy any Iranian boat involved in suspicious activities. He has also asked to intensify the mine-sweeping (removal of sea mines) campaign.

Do not hesitate: Trump

Donald Trump said in a post on the social media account 'Truth Social', 'I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot and destroy any boat, no matter how small, that is laying sea mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There should be no hesitation in that either.'

US control over Hormuz: Trump

He also claimed US control over the regional situation and sea route, referring to the ongoing leadership struggle in Iran. Trump said, 'Iran is having a very hard time understanding who their real leader is. They don't even know for sure. There is a huge internal tension between the 'hardliners' and 'moderates'. The hardliners are losing badly on the battlefield, while the moderates (who are not very soft though) are now gaining more respect.'
